This project is a collaboration between CSIRO and DPIPWE and has the objective to quantify soil moisture at near real time to predict fire risk in organic soils. There are two main soil types in this highly variable soil landscape. The dominant soil is an Oxyaquic Hydrosol, which has an organic horizon overlying a loamy sand within 40 cm of the surface and underlain by gravel or bedrock. The other is a deeper, moderately humified organic soil (Hemic Organosol) where peat horizons are in excess of 40cm thick overlying similar subsoils. The vegetation is characterised by western buttongrass moorland, a low vegetation type associated with these organic soils. The area is managed for conservation purposes and prescribed burning presently is set to occur on a 10 to 15 year recurrence interval.","calibration_type":"V","timezone":"10","ref_pressure":977.152563131798,"ref_intensity":159.247,"cutoff_rigidity":1.83,"elev_scaling":0.755,"latit_scaling":0.995,"scaling":1,"beta":0.0076852305980697,"n0_cal":1582,"bulk_density":0.442,"lattice_water_g_g":0,"soil_organic_matter_g_g":0.076,"site_photo_name":"Scotts_Peak.jpg","nmdb":"JUNG","status":"decommissioned","elevation":305,"local_grav_crns":9.80382947201636,"tau":1.16482751361352,"atmos_atten_coeff":0.0076852305980697,"atmos_depth":996.704977295803,"sea_lvl_atmos_depth":1033.23798889518,"sea_lvl_atten_coeff":0.00775986485862153,"site_spec_gravity":9.80382947201636,"sea_lvl_ref_pressure":1013.25,"id":"22"},{"site_no":23,"site_name":"BCS Conservatively Grazed (C3)","tube_type":"CRS-2000B","network":"CosmOz","imei":"300234068389620","sat_data_select":"c1p1t1h1bn1e1s1d1r1t7h7","hydroinnova_serial_no":null,"latitude":-24.81241,"longitude":149.80126,"installation_date":"2020-09-08T00:00:00Z","contact":"Craig Thornton","email":"craig.thornton@dnrme.qld.gov.au ","site_description":"This site is in a grazed buffel grass pasture in the Brigalow Belt bioregion. The research station is in an open savanna woodland dominated by Eucalyptus trees overlying tropical grasses. This site has an eddy covariance system for directly measuring water and carbon fluxes; a PhenoCam to measure greenness; soil moisture sensors to measure soil water content; and field measurements of pasture biomass in the grazed paddock. Sapflow sensors are also installed to measure tree water use and to partition evapotranspiration into tree and grass water use.","site_name":"Fletcherview","site_photo_name":"Fletcherview.jpg","soil_organic_matter_g_g":0.0040588,"tau":0.450445507032462,"timezone":"10","tube_type":"CRS-2000B","file_process_script":"fletcherview.py","ftp_dir":"Fletcherview","status":"active","atmos_atten_coeff":0.00721303899845186,"atmos_depth":1003.97355638403,"sea_lvl_atmos_depth":1033.23798889518,"sea_lvl_atten_coeff":0.00718322833741527,"site_spec_gravity":9.78579339212556,"sea_lvl_ref_pressure":1013.25,"id":"30"},{"site_no":31,"beta":0.00756725786848903,"bulk_density":1.582,"calibration_type":"V","contact":"Dirk Mallants","cutoff_rigidity":4.47,"elev_scaling":0.84,"elevation":200.0,"email":"dirk.mallants@csiro.au","hydroinnova_serial_no":null,"imei":"","installation_date":"2023-05-08T00:00:00Z","latit_scaling":0.887,"latitude":-33.11366,"lattice_water_g_g":0.036,"local_grav_crns":9.79536339873985,"longitude":136.180847,"n0_cal":2962.0,"network":"CosmOz","nmdb":"JUNG","ref_intensity":159.247,"ref_pressure":989.480320611708,"sat_data_select":null,"scaling":1.0,"site_description":"This site is located at the Kimba research station on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
